What is a drop veil?

Have you come across the term 'drop veil' and not really understood what it meant? Well to put it really simply, it is a piece of shaped tulle that simply floats on your head. A true drop veil has no gather that normally forms as a result of attaching combs or pins to keep you veil in place. A drop veil can be kept in place with the help of wearing a tiara, flower crown or head band that is often placed on top of the veil once it is in position. In some cases, if the veil is a particularly long veil it should be able to stay in place without any additional help to secure it. A drop veil will always have to be worn over the face, however if you hope to have the same simple look of a drop veil but do not want to wear it over your face like a blusher, you might want to consider looking at wearing a mantilla veil instead.

One of the most iconic drop veils is that of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge who wore a silk drop veil on her wedding day to Prince William. Catherine's veil was secured with a magnificent tiara.

What is a drop veil?

A drop veil can either be cut edge, or finished in a beautiful lace. The addition of lace would give the veil slightly more weight which would mean that it would be more likely to stay in place without any additional comb or pins.
