★★★★★ ★★★★★ 3 reviewsIt's almost impossible to judge veil colour accurately from a designer dress photo — lighting, editing and screen settings all change how it appears. Designer colour names aren't reliable either: what one brand calls ivory, another calls white or off-white.
We offer two shades:
Off-white — our palest shade. A soft, clean bridal white with very little warmth or creaminess.
Ivory — warmer and creamier. Best suited to gowns with a soft or traditional ivory tone.
This style is offered in three shades:
Off-white — our palest shade. A soft, clean bridal white with very little warmth or creaminess.
Ivory — warmer and creamier. Best suited to gowns with a soft or traditional ivory tone.
Champagne — warmer still, with a soft golden tone. Pairs well with champagne, blush or warm-ivory gowns.
This style is offered in ivory only — a warm, creamy shade best suited to gowns with a soft or traditional ivory tone.
Off-white is shown alongside in the image for reference, so you can see how ivory compares.

If you are still not sure you can order samples; compare them in natural light against your dress.
A birdcage of fine Russian net, set on a slim covered headband. All the drama of a 1950s birdcage and none of the pins.
Made in our Bath workshop, a stone's throw from the Abbey. Each piece is crafted individually—never mass-produced or imported.
We source materials from specialist mills and suppliers in England, Italy and the USA, selected for quality and longevity.
Every order arrives beautifully wrapped and ready to gift. No additional packaging needed—just hand it over. Presented in our signature keepsake box with grosgrain ribbon.
Founded by Sarah, Britten is an independent atelier seen in The Crown on Netflix, featured in Vogue and Style Me Pretty.
"A birdcage lives or dies by its shape. Get the net right and it holds a curve around the face all by itself — no pins, no fuss, nothing pulling at your hair. That's why I put this one on a headband." — Sarah, Founder
The 'Etta' slides on like an Alice band, so there is no comb to work into your hair. For more styling advice, please read our wedding veil guide or get in touch.
Yes. The satin-covered headband grips in the same way any Alice band does, and because a birdcage weighs almost nothing there is very little pulling against it. For an outdoor or clifftop ceremony, slide one grip through the net and into your hair at each temple and it will not move. It sits comfortably over an updo, a chignon, braids, a bob or cropped hair.
Russian net is the traditional millinery veiling, recognisable by its open diamond weave. It is crisp rather than soft, and that firmness is exactly what allows a birdcage to hold its curve around the face. The net drops approximately 23cm from the headband as standard. .
A birdcage keeps its shape best when it is stored loosely and never folded flat under weight, so the net is not creased out of its curve. Keep it somewhere dry and away from direct sunlight. If you need storage solutions, please see our veil bag and hanging clip.
All our veils are entirely handmade in Bath by one skilled artisan, ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail. Each 'Etta' is shaped by hand and mounted to its headband individually, never mass-produced or imported. This approach means your veil is a true piece of craftsmanship that will remain beautiful for generations.
