Real Bride | Silk Style Barely There Veil Ilona

When the "Beast from the East" hit the UK earlier this year we as a country didn't handle it too well. Schools were closed, supermarkets were shut and some very important weddings were affected!

Our real bride Iona has shared her story with us about the whirlwind few days in the lead up to her wedding day! She looked incredible wearing our Silk style barely there wedding veil Ilona!

We didn't want to change her words due to the experience they had to get to their incredible day!

"Thought it might be worthwhile mentioning my story first, as not all suppliers were originally booked - some stepped in to help me on the day and nothing went to plan. In fact, everything we had planned in the lead up went out the window in the days running up to our wedding as the whole of Edinburgh came to stand still with a red weather warning - there was no public transport so people couldn't get to work, and there were no shops open."
"The day before everything started crumbling - my dad, brother and sisters flights were cancelled, my dress was stranded on a country estate and no cars could get in our out of the road and one by one all the appointments i had made cancelled on me (some on the day). The night before the wedding I realised I had no dress, no makeup artist and even all the hairdressers were closed. I thought about a plan B so made my way into town to buy a backup dress and makeup, to find out every single shop was closed."
"I put out a social media plea to help get my dad to the wedding (he lives on a Scottish island - Lewis) hundreds of people offered their help and my post was shared on Facebook 5,000 times. I couldn't believe how kind people were. Little did I know at the time, one of my best friends had met my dad at the airport and they managed to get a flight to Inverness and made their way from there. They made it just on time!"
"Another good friend of ours borrowed a Land Rover defender and rescued my dress! It all started to come together! On the morning of my wedding, my best friend had to walk to the florist to get my bouquet and walk back - there was no transport! The hairdresser (Peter from Medusa) made it in and were brilliant. My Photographer Kim McDonald from Cademuir photography was incredible, not only did she call me the day before and offer me reassurance and a bit of emotional support - she promised me she would be there no matter what, as well as our humanist celebrant Tim McGuire."
"I guess the moral of the story is, we had put so much work into the planning of our wedding and the small details, and spent a lot of time worrying about things - like would people like the food etc! On the day, absolutely none of this mattered, nor did the table decorations. We had a magical winter wedding, and even though many people didn't make our special day - we realised very quickly that the important thing was that we were there, and we were going to get married no matter what! (Dress or no dress!). Family, health, love - these are the 3 most important things. We managed to Skype our grandparents who watched he ceremony at home on their TV 💜"

Thank you so much Iona for sharing your special day with us! We hope you had an incredible honeymoon in the sun!
