Bright and breezy, a blustery August day helped to make Real Bride Jayne's wedding to Phil in the Norfolk countryside extra memorable. With the wind catching the bride's veil and sweeping through the lush woodland around them, wedding photographer Daniel from Lightening Photography was able to catch both intimate moments in nature, as well as epic landscape shots filled with glorious shades of green and vivid blue skies.
'Phil working away for weeks at a time means that family time is so precious to us, so the decision to host a country house weekend with our entire family was perfect. The groom's closest friend and best man flew in from Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Everyone we love, there for us. Simply wonderful.'
Acting as wedding planner, Jayne pulled together all the unique elements of the day, taking inspiration from Rock my Wedding and Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, ensuring the couple and their guests enjoyed a truly special day.
Jayne looked radiant in a fit-and-flare bridal gown from wedding dress designer Maggie Sottero, bought from Pure Brides in Norwich. The stunning wedding dress featured a detailed lace overlay, replete with beaded floral designs and a crystal-embellished waistbelt.
Adding to her look, Jayne's hair and makeup were styled by Amelia Garwood, who teamed a soft braided updo with subtle eye make-up and a natural lip colour.
She accessorised with shoes from Paradox London and completed her bridal look with our church length barely there wedding veil Skylar. The delicate veil was the perfect partner to complement the detail of the lace, falling exquisitely from its placement above her plaited chignon, and paired with an adorable beaded hair vine.
Our beautiful bride added a further touch of understated elegance to her bridal outfit, with the pearl drop necklace Naya and matching pearl drop earringsNaya from our sister company, Britten Anthology.
The delightful ceremony was held at Chaucer Barn in Gresham, Norfolk. Chaucer Barn is a grand barn conversion, set in 16 acres of parkland, with formal gardens, a 20-acre wood, and a topiary forest.
'The tone for a magical day was set. Being lovers of nature and woodland it was a perfect fit.'
Music from wedding guitarist Glen Parish helped to set the scene, with the countryside location created a lush backdrop as the couple exchanged vows, even when the natural elements attempted to take centre stage.
'We chose to marry in the woodland glade surrounded by our closest family and friends. August the 10th was the windiest day of the summer. When I arrived at the willow alter my beautiful veil took flight and was caught in a single hand by our daughter. The winds continued with the trees swaying, almost in harmony with our acoustic guitarist. The sheer beauty of the glade was breathtaking.'
During the ceremony, the pair chose a romantic reading to reflect their love for and commitment to each other:
"May you be each others sun and moon as your destinies unfold"
- Time Travelers by Terah Cox
'Our guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn, before for strolling through the flower garden to our marquee reception on the flower meadow.'
Jayne carried a beautiful hand toed bouquet bursting with white roses, yellow wildflowers, and green foliage from Ragged Robin Florist based in Wymondham, Norfolk. The floral theme continued throughout the reception, with the three-tier naked cake by Dust with Cocoa decorated with more white roses and yellow blooms. The cake made a perfect sweet treat following a delicious wedding breakfast provided by Broadland catering and fresh salads, tasty meats, and pastry goods from The Norfolk Deli.
The newlyweds took to the dancefloor for their first dance to 'From Eden' by Hozier, and then celebrated and danced the night away with a disco by Epic Event Hire.
Once the dancing was done, the mother of the bride had this to say about the wedding:
"More than perfect, it was a magical fairytale bought to life, perfect in every way and enjoyed by everyone"
For their honeymoon, the couple took their family on holiday to Cala Mesquida in Majorca.
It has been an absolute pleasure looking through the photographs of your big day, Jayne and Phil, and we love how the wind helped to show off the full length of your beautiful veil. We hope you had the best day, and we wish you both lots of love and luck in your future together.
